Definitive sentences for the anarchists arrested September 16th ,2003.
The six anarchists arrested in Barcelona in 2003 now have definitive
sentences. Their lawyers have reached a plea bargain with the state
attorneys for the following sentences :
Rafa : 7 years in prison and a fine of approximately 1095 euros.
Carol : 7 years of prison and a fine of approximately 1095 euros.
Joaquin : 7 years in prison and a fine of approximately 1095 euros.
Igor : 7 years in prison and a fine of approximately 1095 euros.
Roger : 3 years in prison and a fine of approximately 1095 euros.
Teo : 2 years in prison and a fine of approximately 1095 euros.
There is also a undetermined collective fine to pay that is their civil
responsibility. Under spanish law if your sentences is 2 years or less
and you have no previous offenses you do not have to serve your sentence
in prison, therefor Teo will not enter in prison. It is unclear if Roger
will enter in prison to serve the remainder of his sentence or not (he has
been on bail since November of 2004). Rafa, Carol, Joaquin, and Igor have
been in prison since their arrests.
This information was released by the mass media wires some time ago and
was later posted on Indymedia, at the request of those involved in the
case we respected their wish to not publicize the information until it was
a totally unreversable decision. As the Internet expands within anarchist
circles we are starting to see a cult of information growing, people
frantic to receive and publicize information as fast as possible. This is
having negative consequences that can worsen if we don’t broaden the
debate about our responsibility and the Internet. Confirm information you
receive with lawyers or others that have direct contact with the subject.
Don’t publish rumors. Don’t publish details that the police might not
know. Don’t publicly denounce the actions of others. Why is everyone in
such a rush ? Is it going to change the way we act or struggle to know
something a few hours,days,or months earlier ?
Down with the prison society.
Free anarchist prisoners.
Sentences for the anarchists arrested in February 2003 in Barcelona.
We also can report that the five anarchists arrested in Barcelona,
Viladecans, and Almeria in February of 2003 also have definitive sentences
after their lawyers have plea bargained with the state attorney on Friday
the 23rd not to go to trial. Fran, Emilio, Nando and Carlos have been
sentenced to a total of two years in prison. Juanma has been sentenced to
6 meses. None of the five will enter in prison for these sentences as they
don’t have previous offenses. Although it must be noted that Juanma was
arrested when he arrived at the National Court for a warrant that he was
unaware of stemming from a fight with fascists. He was released the same
day to await trail.
Welcome home Ruben !!!
And finally we are reporting that Ruben was released yesterday the 26th of
June to await trail after spending more then four months in prison. He had
to post a bail of 6000 euros to ensure his release. Neither Ruben nor
Ignasi ,who was arrested with him, have a trail date set yet.
