Two extremists killed in Khulna, Jhenidah encounter
A terrorist of an outlawed party was killed in an encounter between his cohorts and Khulna Metropolitan Police at Moshiali in Khanjahan Ali thana in Khulna early Sunday while another outlawed party leader was killed in an ‘encounter’ with police at Charkol in Sadar upazila in Jhenidah early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Wazir Mohammad alias Mukul Bhuiyan, 32, cadre of Purba Banglar Communist Party (M/L Janajuddha) and son of M Nasir of Bhuiyanpara village under Fultala upazila.
Mukul, younger brother of top terrorist Shimul Bhuiyan of outlawed Janajuddha, was wanted in seven cases, including murder, arms looting, explosive and police assault, police said.
Fultala thana police arrested him from Tutpara area on Saturday evening.
On the basis of confession, police took Mukul to Moshiali Government School area at 3.45 am to arrest his cohorts and recover hidden firearms.
As soon as police along with Mukul reached the spot, his cohorts opened fire, forcing the police to fire back. Mukul was caught in the encounter and killed on the spot, said a spot account.
Two pipe guns, 15 rounds of bullet and 12 cartridges were also recovered from the scene.
Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Khulna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Outlawed party leader killed in Jhenidah ‘encounter’
An outlawed party leader was killed in an ‘encounter’ with police at Charkol in Sadar upazila in Jhenidah early Saturday.
Sources said Shamsul Islam alias Sumon, 36, a leader of the banned Purba Banglar Communist Party (Janajuddha), was arrested from Chandpara village in Chowgachha thana of Jessore district Friday noon.
After interrogation, Courtchadpur thana police took Sumon to his Charkol village to recover hidden firearms. As they reached the village at about 1:45 am, Sumon’s cohorts opened fire on the law enforcers forcing them to return fire.
Sumon was caught in the encounter while trying to flee and died on the spot, a police official said.
Two police constables received minor injures during the gunfight.
Police also recovered a pipe-gun and six rounds of bullet from the scene.
Sumon, son of Zahiruddin Mondal, was wanted in 20 cases, including 19 of murder.
The body was sent to local hospital morgue for autopsy.
Leader of outlawed party arrested in Satkhira
A leader of outlawed Purbo Bangla Communist Party was arrested from Thalna village in Kaligang upazila in Satkhira Saturday.
The arrested was identified as Sajal alias Babu, regional commander of Purbo Bangla Communist Party and son of Profulla Roy of Shekhertak village in Dumuria upazila in Khulna. He was wanted in several cases including murder.
Locals said Swajal went into hiding after outlawed leader Mrinal was killed in India. Later he came to Mepaphul union of Khaligang upazila and build up a strong network of the party
