Saturday, March 4, 2006 (Bokaro) :
The toll in Friday’s naxalite attack on a police outpost and a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) camp in Bokaro district has risen to five with the death of two more security personnel.
"Three CISF jawans and two jawans of the district armed police died in the attack," Inspector general of police Rajiv Kumar said.
While three died on the spot, one died on Friday night and another succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
Combing operation continued with sniffer dogs checking possible traces left by the Maoists.
The casualties occurred when around 200 Naxalites went to Bokaro-Jharia police outpost, situated on the border of Dhanbad district, and started indiscriminate firing.
The group, which also included about 20 women cadres, later went to a CISF camp at BCCL’s Damoda project and triggered a dynamite blast.
The ultras also looted three rifles and a pistol from the police outpost. (PTI)
